The Imagine Project

  • Herbie Hancock
  • Sony Music

John Lennon dared listeners to "imagine all the people living in harmony." Herbie Hancock takes him literally, and conjures a world in which musicians' numerous disciplines - jazz, rock, blues, African griot, Celtic folk and Indian classical - speak the same creative language. In that sense, the amazing thing isn't that his guest list ranges from Dave Matthews to K'naan to Juanes to Wayne Shorter to P!NK; it's that the music never needs to stretch to accommodate so many different visions, and that songs as varied as Imagine, Bob Marley's Exodus and Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come seem all to be threads in a single, musical fabric.
