Can we hold the Applause, please?

Apparently not, because the new single from impatient pop imp Lady Gaga leaked online last week, while another song (The Greatest Thing, an unlikely duet with the Cher) snuck out as well.

The Fame Monster star tweeted a picture of her braless cover shot on V magazine's fall issue (not out yet) and is now cheerfully exploiting her fans by raffling herself off via Twitter.

In a move likely aimed at boosting Applause's chart performance, Gaga has offered her legion the chance to meet her and win tickets for her upcoming show at London's iTunes Festival by sending in a screen shot of their chit from the purchase of the single. The more times you buy it, the better your chance to win, with Gaga reaping the benefits.

"I'm so happy to be climbing your charts again," tweeted the charlatan who sings "I live for the applause."

Ovations are receipts, not bills, something Gaga fails to understand.
