Rice honours Dave Brubeck for 'public diplomacy'

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice bestowed an award on jazz great Dave Brubeck yesterday for offering an American "vision of hope, opportunity and freedom" through his music.

Rice launched the Benjamin Franklin Awards for Public Diplomacy in 2007 to recognize those who advance U.S. ideals through public diplomacy.
