Sculptor Jack Harman, who created some of Canada's best-known public art, died almost a year ago but Canadians now have a chance to see, and buy, part of that work.

The Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt, north of Vancouver, has mounted an exhibition of maquettes -- small-scale bronzes used as models before Harman cast his large works.

The seven maquettes, priced between $3,200 and $11,000, include a 45-centimetre-high model of Queen Elizabeth on horseback. The finished 3.6-metre sculpture has stood in Ottawa since 1992. Harman died last Jan. 3. CP
