MONDAY MAY 19 The Bachelorette (ABC, Citytv, 9:30 p.m.) Welcome back to the game of love, Andi Dorfman. The winsome brunette was rudely rebuffed on the last edition of The Bachelor but resume the search for true love in this spinoff series. As before, Andi does not suffer fools gladly (hey, she’s a prosecuting attorney in her hometown of Dallas), which comes in handy in tonight’s season opener when she’s introduced to the 25 single men vying for her affections. Don’t count on her being impressed by the personal trainer who pushes a limo up the driveway, but she might hand a rose over to the guy who shows up with a bottle of champagne.

TUESDAY MAY 20 Shannon & Sophie (W Network, 10 p.m.) How did this show happen? Canadian-born Shannon Tweed-Simmons – best known for her appearances in Playboy and for being married to KISS member Gene Simmons – steps into the reality-TV spotlight with her daughter Sophie in this new series. As per their previous incarnation on A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels, the show’s premise unfailingly drops mother and daughter into everyday situations and follows them as they try to stumble upon their own unique solution. In tonight’s first show, Sophie makes the decision to move out of her parents’ house – resulting in many tears and stacks of moving boxes; in the second show, Sophie’s in Nashville to launch her chosen career of country singer. Break a leg, ladies.

WEDNESDAY MAY 21 Modern Family (ABC, Citytv, 9 p.m.) The TV wedding of the year is turning into one roadblock after another. In last week’s first half of the season finale, Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) were finally about to walk down the aisle on their big day, but the event was rudely interrupted by California wildfires raging near the venue. In tonight’s second half, the guests are getting testy and “best man” Claire (Julie Bowen) is starting to fade, but the really big surprise is still waiting. And it’s only a matter of time before Cam and Mitch’s best friend turned wedding planner Pepper (Nathan Lane) loses it altogether.

THURSDAY MAY 22 Last Comic Standing (NBC, 9 p.m.) You can tell summer’s coming by the sudden arrival of supposedly long-lost reality ideas. Following an extended absence, this show in search of America’s next great standup comedian finally returns for an eighth season with a new host and new judges. Former Curb Your Enthusiasm stalwart JB Smoove serves as host, with the judging duties going to Roseanne Barr, Keenan Ivory Wayans and Canada’s own Russell Peters. How does it work? A long line of standup comics get five minutes apiece to make the judges laugh. If they don’t, it’s back to their fry-cook jobs. Now that’s funny!

FRIDAY MAY 23 Buy It, Fix It, Sell It (HGTV, 10 p.m.) You’ll never go broke in the current TV world with a show about people trying to make a quick buck from old junk. Debuting tonight, this new show focuses on professional “fixers” battling to buy the best old items at auction, with those same items naturally flipped for immediate profit at auction. Watch the raw reality drama unfold in tonight;s opener when a group of fixers scrap over a collection of vintage Hudson’s Bay blankets.

SATURDAY MAY 24 The Dirty Dozen (TCM, 8 p.m.) A blockbuster hit when released in 1967, this gritty war feature directed by Robert Aldrich may be the penultimate guy movie. The story takes place midway through the Second World War with Lee Marvin cast as the gruff Major Reisman, a career soldier assigned the unenviable task of coordinating a suicide-mission attack on a French chateau occupied by Nazi officers. Since no ordinary soldier would ever volunteer for such a mission, Reisman assembles his team from a group of condemned military prisoners, which includes the psychopath Franko (John Cassavettes), sex offender Maggott (Telly Savalas) and the mentally-unstable Pinkley (Donald Sutherland). Watch the first 10 minutes and you’ll end up sitting through the movie all over again.

SUNDAY MAY 25 Mad Men (AMC, 10 p.m.) Better get your Mad Men fix while you can: TV’s most revered period piece concludes the first half of its sendoff season tonight and won’t return for the final seven episodes until Spring, 2015. The current campaign has taken the story of conflicted ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) into decidedly dark places and viewers should probably expect a cliffhanger ending based on the brief episode description. To whit: Don is rattled by a letter from someone from his past; Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) contemplates her future on a risky venture; Roger (John Slattery) receives a phone call he’s been actively dreading; and Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) and Cutler (Harry Hamlin) finally have it out in regard to who’s really running the agency. Hurry back, Mad Men.
