REALITY Massive Moves HGTV, 7 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. PT The mere mention of the term “moving day” elicits chills in most people, but can you imagine the stress that comes with moving an entire house? This offbeat series documents the daily work routine of companies contracted to move domiciles across the street and, in some cases, across the country. Tonight’s first episode follows the slow and steady traverse of a cute two-storey wooden house being eased along the banks of the raging Skagit River to a new location in southwestern B.C. The logistics behind the move are fascinating, but not nearly as much fun as watching the nervous expression on the owners’ faces.
COMEDY Mr. D CBC, 8 p.m. ET/PT Who says Canadian viewers won’t support a homegrown comedy series? Since debuting last month, this sitcom has steadily pulled an audience of a million-plus viewers (a fact repeated incessantly in the on-air promotional spots for the show). Filmed in Halifax, the program works off the real-life experiences of comedian Gerry Dee, who spent a decade doing fill-in duty as a high-school gym teacher before making stand-up a full-time career. The premise takes a slight shift tonight as his character of Gerry Duncan learns of a job opening up in his current school’s physical education department. Let the fake résumé writing begin!
