COMEDY Glee Fox, Global, 8 p.m. The singing-and-dancing students of McKinley High are finally going back to school. In tonight's third-season opener, the members of the New Directions glee club are still mourning their devastating loss at the Nationals competition. To get them back on track, their mentor-coach Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) assigns them a top-secret singing project. In other news, the mean-spirited gym coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) fires up her campaign to run for U.S. Congress. Is anyone else concerned that this show is going to be taking some weird turns this season?

DRAMA NCIS: Los Angeles CBS, Global, 9 p.m. Back tonight for a third season, this sturdy crime procedural has built a loyal viewer following on Tuesday nights. In the beginning, the show focused primarily on the special projects branch of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, hence most of the stories involved espionage or terrorist threats. Forty-odd episodes later, the format now spends more time on the personal stories of the NCIS stalwarts. Case in point: Tonight's show takes special agents Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Hanna (LL Cool J) to Romania in a frantic search for their operations manager Hetty (Linda Hunt). We should all have such considerate co-workers.
