Ballet BC's 2013-14 season will include seven world premieres, the Vancouver premiere of a ballet set to Sarah McLachlan's music, and a performance at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow dance festival. The season was announced on Tuesday.

It will kick off in October with TILT , featuring world premieres of works by Boston Ballet resident choreographer Jorma Elo (1st Flash) and Ballet BC artistic director Emily Molnar, as well as Netherlands Dance Theatre associate choreographer Johan Inger's Walking Mad , which had its Canadian premiere in Vancouver last year.

In February, the company will present Grace Symmetry, which will include new works by Ballet Mannheim Artistic Director Kevin O'Day (Face to Face) and French choreographer Medhi Walerski (Petite Cérémonie), and the reprisal of Wen Wei Wang's In Motion. Vancouver's Turning Point Ensemble will perform the music live.

As previously reported by The Globe and Mail, Alberta Ballet will bring Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, choreographed by artistic director Jean Grand-Maître, to McLachlan's neck of the woods, with performances November 14-16 at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre (following shows in Victoria November 8-9). The company of 17 dancers, which has focused on contemporary ballet since Molnar took over in 2009 following its near-bankruptcy, was named one of "25 to watch" by Dance Magazine in its January 2013 issue, which called the company "physically rigorous, dramatically solid, and truly contemporary." Ballet BC was also featured in January as Broadway World's international dance company of the month.
