Crash and The Penelopiad each nabbed six nods including for outstanding production as the nominees for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards were announced Tuesday.

For outstanding production in the general theatre production division, those shows will compete with War Horse, Topdog Underdog and The Golden Dragon.

Pamela Mala Sinha's Crash will also compete for outstanding new play against Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience, Evan Webber's Ajax & Little Iliad, Erin Fleck's Those Who Can't Do and Tim Supple and Hanan al-Shaykh's One Thousand and One Nights.

Alan Dilworth of Crash also earned a nod for outstanding direction of a play/musical, for which he'll compete against Kelly Thornton for The Penelopiad, Philip Akin for Topdog Underdog, Robert McQueen for Caroline, or Change and Ross Manson for The Golden Dragon.

Meanwhile, in the musical theatre production division, the contenders for outstanding production are Caroline, or Change, I Love You Because and Seussical.

The awards, which honour extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts, will be handed out on June 25 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in the Bluma Appel Theatre.
