TORONTO, ON - SEPTEMBER 09: Actor Ryan Gosling arrives at "Ides Of March" Premiere at Roy Thomson Hall during the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2011 in Toronto, Canada.

We asked three of The Globe's roving festival reporters for the moments they'll remember most from the red carpet this year.

Fascinated by my iPhone on the red carpet for Drive, Ryan Gosling grabbed it from me and turned the camera on ... me! I swooned. – Tamara Baluja

Ralph Fiennes sported a full, fluffy beard on the red carpet for Coriolanus. His explanation: It was for his role as Prospero in The Tempest, on stage in London. The actor kept stroking his beard throughout the interview, much to my distraction. – Tamara Baluja

When Channing Tatum stepped onto the red carpet before the screening of Ten Year, fans went crazy and started shouting his name. Justin Long, who also stars in the film and was signing autographs for the fans, turned around and joined in, shouting "Channing, Channing" along with the crowds. – Tamara Baluja

Watching photographers panic as Madonna walked straight from her fans, where she was signing autographs, and on to the covered red carpet to begin her television interviews. Amid the pack's yells and groans, one photographer's admonishing voice rose above the rest: "Madonna, you totally skipped us!" – Kim Mackrael

A somewhat bashful Gary McKendry, director of the film Killer Elite, tells me he's not sure he belongs in upscale Holt Renfrew, where he's waiting to be interviewed by a Variety magazine reporter: "I feel like a thug in here, like I broke in or something." – Kim Mackrael

Ethan Hawke manages to be remarkably opaque on the red carpet when asked about his new film, The Woman in the Fifth. "It's a very mysterious movie, a very mysterious role.… The movie's so mysterious I kind of hesitate to even say anything about it." – Kim Mackrael

When Sarah Silverman approached me on the red carpet for Take This Waltz, I prefaced my question with an apology for repetition (I'd heard another reporter down the line ask something similar). "Maybe you should Google it," she quipped, making me laugh and cringe at the same time. – Carys Mills

Seth Rogen busting out his BlackBerry to text his sister on the red carpet. She was having trouble getting into the theatre. So much for family ties. – Carys Mills

Olivia Wilde reading a satirical message from producer Harvey Weinstein before the screening of Butter. He invited Republican Michele Bachmann to the Iowa premiere of the film, suggesting they could "play some Ping-Pong, and then maybe some verbal Ping-Pong on gay rights, women's rights and especially the right to choose." – Carys Mills
