Canada's top screenwriters took home prizes last night, with the half-hour drama award going to an episode of Corner Gas (written by Mark Farrell and Robert Sheridan) and the duo behind Across the River to Motor City (Denis McGrath and Robert Wertheimer) claiming the one-hour drama category at the Writers Guild of Canada's annual Canadian Screenwriting Awards.

The other winners: feature film: Travis McDonald ( Normal); children and preschool: Kenn Scott ( Iggy Arbuckle); documentary: Barri Cohen ( Toxic Trespass); movie of the week or miniseries: Ian Weir ( Dragon Boys); radio drama: Jason Sherman, Adam Pettle, Greg Nelson ( Afghanada); variety: Kevin White and team ( This Hour Has 22 Minutes); youth: Brent Piaskoski ( Naturally Sadie). Peter Mohan won the WGC Showrunner Award.
