Mr. Irfhan Rawji, Chair of the Board of Governors of Glenbow Museum, proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Nicholas R. Bell to the position of President & CEO. Mr. Bell joins Glenbow, one of Canada’s foremost public art museums, from his previous position as Senior Vice President for Curatorial Affairs at Mystic Seaport Museum, the preeminent American maritime museum.
Mr. Bell brings to his new role a proven legacy in exhibition programming. Previously he served as The Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator-in-Charge of the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, in Washington DC, where he led the Renwick’s relaunch, increasing attendance from 150,000 annually to one million.
Mr. Bell is the author and editor of ten books on art, museums, and contemporary culture. In his new role, Mr. Bell will leverage the work of Glenbow over the past few years to advance institutional change, to develop compelling new exhibitions and to increase visitation.
A core priority for Mr. Bell will be to lead the Glenbow through a comprehensive transformation of its building and exhibit spaces. Mr. Rawji and the Board of Governors welcome Mr. Bell to Glenbow.
