Export Development Canada (EDC) is pleased to welcome Richard Payette who was appointed to EDC’s Board of Directors in March 2021.

EDC’s Board of Directors plays an invaluable role in helping EDC achieve its mandate: to contribute to Canada’s prosperity by growing Canadian export trade and supporting businesses as they go, grow and succeed internationally. EDC is a self-sustaining, financial Crown corporation with a Board appointed by the Government of Canada.

Mr. Payette is currently a Board member of the Canadian Public Accountability Board, Lemay, LexRockai, the Montreal clinical research Institute and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal. He is also a former Board Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Fédération des Chambres de Commerce du Québec. Until January 2020, he was President and CEO of Manulife Quebec. Prior to joining Manulife, Richard served as CEO for the Americas Region for BDO International and CEO of Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. A Top 25 personality in the financial industry in Québec in 2018 and 2020, he also received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee award recognizing Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities and to the Canadian nation.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from HEC Montreal and is a Fellow of the Quebec Order of CPAs.
