Sara Alvarado, Executive Director, Institute for Sustainable FinanceSUPPLIED

ISF is pleased to welcome Sara Alvarado as its new executive director. A veteran investment professional, she will advance ISF’s mandate to build Canadian sustainable finance capacity.

Most recently Sara was head of risk and chief anti money laundering officer at Canada Infrastructure Bank. Prior she worked as a senior officer at the European Investment Bank with a mandate to catalyze private-sector investments with focus on climate change and sustainability. She is co-chair at the World Economic Forum’s Infrastructure 4.0 Initiative.

Before moving to the EU Sara spent 25 years in the investment industry at Manulife Financial, Sun Life, and Scotia Capital.

ISF is a collaborative hub for academia, private sector, and government to focus on increasing Canada’s sustainable finance capacity. The institute’s mission is to align mainstream financial markets with Canada’s transition to a prosperous sustainable economy.

Housed at Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, the Institute fills the gap of relevant data, expertise, and business-oriented solutions for sustainable finance.
