As the lead Portfolio Manager for the Thor Wealth Management Group at TD Wealth Private Investment Advice, Michael specializes in managing the complex financial affairs and daily investment management for individuals, corporate investment accounts and trusts. Michael was born and raised in Ottawa where he began his journey in the financial services industry in 1991, holding management positions at a major Canadian bank. In 1995, Michael moved to Georgian Bay (Midland, Ontario) to advance his career and follow his passion for investment management.

Since 2005, Michael’s approach as an active Portfolio Manager includes an investment approach that is tailored to each client’s unique set of needs. Michael follows a disciplined investment strategy with a tax-efficient approach to investing.

When asked, Michael states, " We do not look to beat the market by taking an outsized position in a single or a few investments but rather a risk priority investment approach.”

Michael often acts as a coach with clients, particularly when it comes to managing emotions that may arise with investing and withstanding market volatility, helping them build portfolios with tax-efficient income all while seeking to protect the purchasing power of investment capital and capital appreciation.

Now approaching 30 years of investment industry experience, Michael believes building a good team of professionals is a fundamental key for true holistic wealth management. Along with his spouse Sarah (Associate Portfolio Manager), Michael and his team strive to deliver on all fronts, from developing a personalized wealth strategy as a key component to help their clients achieve financial success, to delivering the highest level of service. Together as a team, they remain focused on employing three underlying principles; responsibility, integrity and service excellence.

When asked what he is most proud of, Michael says, “It is the long-term client relationship and earning our clients deepest trust that dates back to when I first moved to Midland in 1995.”
