Richard Brunet is the founding member and senior partner of Brunet Gilbert Paquet Team at National Bank Financial.

His team of 12 operates as a family office. Richard and his partners offer clients fully integrated wealth management services, including financial planning and insurance, and are known for the quality of their advice. Everyone upholds a deep commitment to each client’s unique needs and a dedication to excellence in their professional responsibilities. Since 2006, they have managed an equity portfolio (the VEA private portfolio), which has outperformed its index over time.

Through their collective creativity and client-centric approach, the Brunet Gilbert Paquet Team has built one of Canada’s most trusted and successful practices. They have gained recognition through many awards at National Bank Financial, including Best Asset Growth, Team of the Year, Portfolio Management Excellence, and Portfolio of the Year.

Richard has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He began his career in 1987 by joining a team of two top producers at what was then Levesque, Beaubien. As an associate advisor, Richard quickly learned the do’s and don’ts of managing the precious assets of clients with differing profiles, particularly high-net-worth clients.

He took control of the group in 1990 and applied a thorough and prudent tax-efficient asset allocation strategy. With his partners, Richard has grown the assets the group manages from about $45 million to more then $1.2 billion. Twenty-five years ago he began doing his own research on North American equities for his clientele, offering exclusive and tailor-made portfolio management.

Richard has contributed to many radio shows in the Quebec City area over the past 15 years, to help listeners understand the economy and the markets.

In the community, Richard has been involved with Fonds Alpha at Université Laval, Collège Jésus-Marie de Sillery, Centraide Quebec, Maison de Lauberivière and Maison Michel-Sarrazin.

Richard is a doting father to four children and two stepdaughters. He and his life-partner, Annie, enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and camping during summer, and skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and travelling the world in the cold season.
