Canadian factory sales most likely rose by 0.5 per cent in August, driven by higher sales of petroleum and coal products, chemical and primary metal industries, Statistics Canada said in a flash estimate on Wednesday.

The estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 47.0 per cent. The average weighted response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 92.5 per cent.
