Canadian factory sales most likely rose 1.0 per cent in August from July largely due to increases in the petroleum and coal product subsector and the food subsector, Statistics Canada said in a flash estimate on Tuesday.

The estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 67.2 per cent. The average weighted response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 94.5 per cent.
