A bomb threat forced the evacuation of bar in downtown Halifax after midnight last night, forcing 1,300 people into the streets — many of them without coats as the wind chill dipped to -12 C.

Halifax police say the threat against the Liquor Dome on Argyle Street was reported at 12:50 a.m.

Municipal buses were brought in to provide temporary shelter for those who could not leave because they didn’t have access to money or keys to their homes.

Police blocked all vehicle traffic and a police dog searched the bar for explosives around 3 a.m.

No one was injured.

Police are asking for the public’s help as they continue their investigation.
