Police are investigating after a bus carrying a major bantam hockey team slid off a highway in the community of Queensville, N.S., sending a 13-year-old boy to hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP say the single-vehicle crash happened at about 2:20 p.m. on Saturday.

They say the bus — which was carrying 19 hockey players and their coaches — left the roadway and rolled onto its side.

Police say the 13-year-old boy was the only person to suffer serious injuries.

They say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

RCMP say the road was slippery at the time, and their investigation is ongoing.
