One person is dead and another is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an early morning shooting in Toronto.

Toronto police say they responded to reports of a shooting near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Two victims were located on scene with gunshot wounds, one of them without vital signs.

Officers began CPR on the person without vital signs before pronouncing them dead at the scene.

Toronto paramedics say the second victim was taken to a trauma centre in serious but stable condition.

No information about the suspect has been released and the area is closed off for an investigation.
