One person is facing charges following the detonation of two explosive devices on the streets of Amherst, N.S., which rocked the small town but did not cause any damage or injuries.

Amherst police say a suspect – who is scheduled to appear in court today – was arrested Wednesday.

Police also confirmed they had searched a home on Victoria Street East and are looking to speak with a “person of interest.”

The first explosion, heard throughout the downtown, was reported Monday at around 10 p.m. near the corner of Agnew and Rupert streets.

The second blast was reported Wednesday at 2:30 a.m., a few blocks to the north at Agnew and Willow streets.

A third unexploded device was found in a nearby park and was safely detonated by the RCMP.

Police declined to describe the devices.
