Police say they’ve arrested a second man in the alleged abduction of a Chinese student in Markham, Ont.

York Regional Police say they’ve taken a 33-year-old man from Brampton, Ont., into custody, and will release his name once he is formally charged in court later today.

The arrest comes a day after another suspect 37-year-old Abdullahi Adan of Toronto, turned himself in to police after a nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police say Wanzhen Lu, 22, was taken against his will in the underground parking lot of his condominium around 6 p.m. on March 23.

They allege three men got out of a minivan, shocked him several times with a stun gun and forced him into the vehicle, which then sped off.

Police say a ransom demand was made, but they haven’t said whether it was paid.

Lu showed up outside a home more than 150 kilometres away in Gravenhurst, Ont., asking for help.
