Canada’s small- and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize a world of opportunity awaits beyond our borders. Yet it can be difficult for would-be exporters to know which foreign markets to pursue, when to launch and how to support a newly-international business. On February 16, 2022, The Globe brought together some of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs and trade experts to share practical advice, real-world experiences and insights into how even the smallest Canadian company can become a global brand.

Chris Hannay, independent business reporter with The Globe and Mail started the event with a lively panel discussion with experienced business owners who have become global brands. The panel included Marnie Consky, CEO of Thigh Society; Brad Liski, CEO and co-founder of Tru Earth; and Ann-Marie McIntosh, vice-president of marketing, customer experience and corporate communications with FedEx Express Canada.

After the panel, Chris Hannay had the opportunity to interview The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development.
