While doing a favour for his father, "someone" put the gas can in the back of the hatchback without confirming that the lid was sealed tight. The first hard right had the gas slosh and splash. Yeah … stinky.

Luckily, the cargo liner took the brunt of the spill. But the stench of the gas had us hallucinating. Febreze was sprayed all over the fabric but it smelled like perfume-coated gasoline for days.

Goclean Waterless, of Mississauga, launched a waterless car wash product (endorsed by Dragon's Den) but has widened its product line with an odour eliminator. The label says it's a plant-based polymer environmentally friendly product that binds to the odour-causing molecules to neutralize the smell.

I sprayed it and left the car in the sun for the day. By nightfall, the smell of gas was still there but noticeably less, so I repeated the spraying. The next day, the light scent of the product was gone and there was only a hint of petroleum, so I sprayed again. It's the third day now I'm impressed – it seems to have done the job and disappeared too.

I might just try it in "someone's" bedroom!
