2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe
BMW's M sports coupe has a 4.4-litre M twinpower turbo V-8 with 560 horsepower and an always accessible 500 lb-ft of torque. The same engine, known internally as the S63B44 engine, is also used in the BMW X5 M and X6 M.
It will travel from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed double-clutch transmission, which offers fast gear changes in both automatic and manual modes.
"No clutch pedal is required for manual gearshifts and the driver can stay on the accelerator during gear changes," says BMW.
The driver can change gears using shift paddles on the steering wheel (Pull the right paddle to shift up, the left shifts down) or or the shift lever.
The car's carbon ceramic brakes are 19.4 kg lighter than regular brakes, and offer greater resistance to heat. The Carbon-Ceramic system's gold-coloured calipers can be seen through the 20-inch forged light alloy wheels.
The front of the vehicle features large air intakes, optional adaptive LED headlights and a kidney grille designed for this model.
The roof panel is made from a lightweight carbon fiber composite.
BMW M was established in 1972. This M model, like all others, was tested on the 22.5 km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. BMW has a permanent testing facility on the site.
Fuel economy (litres/100 km): 13.3 city/8.6 highway; premium gas
