Dozens of journalists in Canada and the U.S. have narrowed down their top choices for the vehicles that will be awarded 2016 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year. To be eligible for the short list, the vehicle must be new or substantially changed and must be a popular seller. Last year, the Volkswagen Golf and Ford F-150 won. Many of the journalists will drive these cars in a few weeks in Michigan before determining the top three in December. The winners will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show on January 11, 2016. The first 10 images are the cars that made the short list and the final 12 images are the trucks or utility vehicles.
