deals of the week

While lower gas prices have helped make SUVs and crossovers more palatable, generous auto maker incentives upsized in recent months have driven SUV and crossover sales in Canada to record levels so far in 2016.

There has been much publicity on the rise of new vehicle incentives and many predictions of a pullback in incentive spending by auto makers grappling with the impact of a weaker Canadian dollar. Many auto makers source inventory in U.S. dollars and currency movements have created tremendous pressure on profitability at Canadian operations. However, it appears these worries have not had an impact on deals for consumers, at least not yet.

Our deals this week feature popular SUVs that all have better than average fuel economy and recently enhanced incentives. For reference, the EPA estimates that the median standard-size SUV consumes 11.5 L/100km (20.5 mpg) in combined city and highway driving.
