Centerra Gold Inc. board chairman Patrick James is taking a leave of absence for unspecified family medical reasons, the company announced Friday.
Bruce Walter, the board's vice-chairman, will act in his stead in the interim, the company added in a brief statement.
No other details were disclosed.
Toronto-based Centerra is a gold mining company focused on operations in Asia, the former Soviet Union and other emerging markets worldwide.
