Watchlist goes mobile Add to ...

A lot of readers have been asking when they'll be able to get their Watchlist on their mobile phone. It's ready.

You can now view your Watchlist using a mobile browser on any mobile device, like Safari on your iPhone or the Browser on your BlackBerry.

Go directly to the mobile Watchlist at tgam.ca/mobilewl. The Watchlist will also be linked from The Globe and Mail's mobile home page at m.tgam.ca and the Investing section.

You'll need to log in using your regular Globe credentials, or in other words, the same one you would use at your desktop computer. This means that the same Watchlist you use on desktop computers is synced to your account and can now be seen on mobile devices.

The menu at the top of the page lets you switch between all of your saved lists within Watchlist. Once in a list, you can click or tap through preset views to see summarized prices, ratios and growth rates for your stocks as well as sort any of these data columns. Watchlist will automatically remember your preferred view and sort order.

To see all of the news on the stocks in your Watchlist, click or tap on News for a list of all of the up-to-the-minute headlines filtered on the companies you're interested in.

In this first version of mobile Watchlist you can't add new items or delete existing ones. You can only view the Watchlist you set up on your desktop already. But you'll be able add stocks, funds, commodities, currencies and indexes soon. Other improvements are also planned in the coming weeks and months.

Our goal is to give you a tool that seamlessly lets you track the securities you're interested in across the web and all your mobile devices. If there's a feature you'd really like to have, please leave a comment on this blog post or let us know at mobile@globeandmail.com.
