Well, this is certainly terrific news: Timothy Geithner, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, has added blogging to his list of duties, announcing in an inaugural post on Monday that Treasury Notes would be a place where "senior officials and staff throughout the Department and Bureaus will post news, announcements and information so you can learn more about us and the work we do here at Treasury."

That's it so far. Personally, I think he should have dispensed with the introduction and launched right into something substantial to really give the new blog some personality. Did Mr. Geithner see 60 Minutes on Sunday evening, with the Federal Reserve's Ben Bernanke? And any thoughts on last week's payrolls report? And the euro -- tell us something about the euro. Okay, these are early days, but here's to hoping that Treasury Notes becomes a must-read blog.
