The number of stocks on the positive breakouts list (stocks with positive price momentum) continues to grow and is up to 57 companies as equity markets continue to rise, commodity prices recover, and leadership broadens. The negative breakouts list (stocks with negative price momentum) stands at just three companies.

The U.S. non-farm payroll report is a key report that investors are intensely waiting to see, which will be released Friday before the market opens.

The U.S. earnings season is largely over. This is the third consecutive quarter in which earnings have declined year over year.

Despite the lacklustre financial reports, markets continue to rally given the absence of negative geopolitical news, Chinese economic growth concerns are not in the front-page headlines, reduced expectations surrounding imminent additional interest rate hikes by the U.S. Federal Reserve, commodity prices have stabilized, and investor sentiment has improved for now.

The Breakouts file is a technical analysis screen intended to identify companies that are technically breaking out. In addition, this report highlights a company's dividend policy, analysts' recommendations, and provides a brief technical analysis for a stock to provide readers with more information.

If a stock appears on the positive breakouts list, this indicates positive price momentum, and that a company may be worthwhile for investors to look at the fundamentals in order to determine if the recent price strength is warranted and will continue. If a stock appears on the negative breakouts list, this indicates negative price momentum, and may be indicative of either deteriorating fundamentals or perhaps indicates a buying opportunity.

A technical analysis screen does not replace fundamental analysis, but can help identify companies worth having a closer look at.
