Vista Gold Corp. , which rose more than 5 per cent on Wednesday, announced the results of its initial drilling program for the Guadalupe de los Reyes gold-silver project in Sinaloa, Mexico. With the results of the first 10 core holes, Vista said it has begun to achieve its objectives of: obtaining core for metallurgical testing from the stockwork that is the host for the project's current reported estimated resource in support of a planned Preliminary Economic Assessment.

Nordion Inc. , a leading provider of products and services to the global health science market, announced today it has signed a six-year contract to supply cobalt-60 to Synergy Health, a leading international contract sterilization service company headquartered in the United Kingdom. Under the terms of the agreement, the contract extends until Oct. 31, 2017.

Marquee Energy Ltd. announced its 2012 guidance in light of drilling success at Michichi and Willesden Green, which provides it with a "catalyst for increased activity and anticipated production growth." The board of directors of Marquee have approved the company's 2012 capital budget of $34-million, which will be financed by funds from operations and the company's existing credit facility. Based on prices of WTI $90/Cdn for oil and $2.50 mcf/d AECO for natural gas during 2012 its estimated cash flow is expected to be $28-million.

Freegold Ventures Limited , which fell 4.5 per cent yesterday reported the results of from its ongoing drill program on the Golden Summit Project located near Fairbanks, Alaska. It intersected 1.8 g/t gold over 30.6 metres.

Porto Energy Corp. , which edged lower and closer to year lows yesterday, announced results from the drilling of the SPC-2 well in the Torres Vedras concession onshore Portugal, it has elected to plug and abandon the second well in the company's program to explore the Jurassic Reef prospect.

Medicago Inc. , a biotechnology company, today announced that it has successfully completed initial studies towards the development of a new VLP vaccine candidate for rabies. It said several research-stage products have demonstrated positive results, and the company is working to advance selected targets into preclinical development, including its rabies vaccine.

Silver Spruce Resources Inc. announced the prospecting results for rare earth elements (REE) and uranium on the 100 per cent owned Straits (ST), 357 claim (approximately 89 km2) property in southern Labrador. It reported values to 4.76 per cent TREO with up to 58 per cent HREO, five samples with TREO values above 1 per cent and significant Dy, Nd; coincident U, Ta, Nb, Zr anomalies, REE appear to be mainly associated with U rather than Th; other significant, non-coincident U3O8 zones with values up to 6.75 per cent U3O8.

Murgor Resources Inc. , which has been trading near year lows, today announced new drill results from its last seven drill holes at the Golden Arrow Gold project, located 65 kilometres east of Timmins, Ontario. It reported 35.0 m with 2.20 g/t Gold including 6.0 m with 7.22 g/t Gold and 46.0 m with 1.44 g/t Gold including 6.0 m with 3.38 g/t Gold.

Mining investment company Novadx Ventures Corp. announced today that since the commencement of full production in December, the wash plant at its Rosa Mine has produced approximately 13,800 tons of coal, which were sold at an average price of $166 per ton to customers in the coking coal and activated carbon industries. Total coal sales over this period were approximately $2.3-million yielding net revenues for coal sales of approximately $2-million to Novadx after payment relating to the Sandstorm Metals and Energy Ltd. coal stream agreement.

Health sciences company Sernova Corp. announced today that the Japan Patent Office has issued a Notice of Allowance to the company for a patent entitled "Compositions Containing Sertoli Cells and Myoid Cells and Use Thereof in Cellular Transplants." Dr. Philip Toleikis, Sernova's President and CEO, said: "This patent allowance further strengthens our patent portfolio of over 22 issued and pending patents covering our enabling platforms of therapeutic cells, local immunoprotection and medical devices, including the Cell Pouch System."

Luna Gold Corp. announced today its gold production update for the Aurizona Gold Mine for the quarter ending Dec. 2011 and for the full year 2011. Aurizona Gold mine produced a quarterly record in the fourth quarter of 13,620 ounces, completing the year 2011 with a gold production of 41,898 ounces in Luna's first full year of production.
