Vaaldiam Mining Inc. which was a cent below year highs yesterday, announced today its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012. The company said it has recorded a net loss of $614,000 or $0.01 per share compared to a net loss of $7.6-million or $0.11 per share for the same period in 2011. It ended the period with cash of $3.7-million and working capital of $2.8-million.

GuestLogix Inc. which closed almost 2 per cent higher yesterday, announced today the deployment of its onboard retail technology platform including its handheld POS devices with rail operator First TransPennine Express.

Stella-Jones Inc. which has hit year highs yesterday, announced today its financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2012. The company said sales were $158.8-million, up 21.7 per cent from $130.5-million last year. Operating income was $24.1-million, versus $14.4-million in first quarter 2011. Net income went up 76.5 per cent to $15-million from $8.5-million last year.
