Bird Construction Inc. , which rose 1 per cent in moving closer to a year high $15.17 yesterday, announced that it has been awarded a number of construction contracts totalling approximately $235-million.

Endeavour Mining Corp. , which gained 4 per cent on Thursday, announced the discovery of new zones of gold bearing oxide mineralization within the Salman Trend at the 90 per cent owned Nzema Gold Mine in Ghana.

Broadcast equipment maker Miranda Technologies Inc. , which fell 2.5 per cent on Thursday, reported first quarter net profit of $0.9-million, compared to $2.3-million last year and adjusted net profit of $3.2-million, compared to $1.9-million last year.

Mandalay Resources Corp. announced that it intends to buy back all of its outstanding common share purchase warrants in exchange for common shares to simplify the company's capital structure and reduce concerns over dilution associated with the warrants.

CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. reported strong geophysical responses matching geology and uranium mineralized boulders from the recent surveys within the target areas at its NW Manitoba uranium-REE project. Exploration on the NW Manitoba Project had been suspended since 2007, but recommenced last month.
