Canadian issues that are moving on early news

Aecon Group Inc. reported results for the second quarter of 2012. It said: "Margin trends in the quarter continued to be positive despite lower revenue versus the same period a year ago. As revenue ramps up in the second half, on the back of a 44 per cent increase in new awards in the first half of 2012 versus a year ago, prospects for the second half of 2012 and into 2013 remain strong." Adjusted profit attributable to shareholders of $4.1-million ($0.07 per diluted share) was in line with 2011. Revenue decreased by $97-million, or 13 per cent.

The Brick Ltd., which lost 2 per cent on Monday, will hold a conference call on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. ET to discuss results for its second quarter, which ended June 30. Financial results will be released after markets close on Aug. 14.

Canadian Helicopters Group Inc. will release its second-quarter results after market close today. A conference call will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET to review the financial result.

Chorus Aviation Inc. announced net income for the second quarter of 2012 of $22.9-million or $0.18 per share, an increase from $16.9-million or $0.14 per share a year earlier. During the second quarter, Chorus recorded a $4.5-million loss in unrealized foreign exchange on long-term debt and finance leases. Adjusted net income was $27.4-million or $0.22 per share.

Xinergy Ltd., which lost 2.5 per cent and dipped below $1 Friday, closed down another 8 per cent yesterday ahead of its results for the second quarter. Overnight it reported a net loss of $14.5-million (U.S.) or $0.27 per diluted share as compared to a net loss of $2.8-million or $0.05 per diluted share last year on "significantly" lower production and sales.

Absolute Software Corporation, which rose more than 1 per cent to $4.93 but struck a day high $5.22 on Monday, recorded a net loss of $2.4-million (U.S.) for the fourth quarter compared to net income of $1.3-million for the fourth quarter of 2011. For the fourth quarter of 2012, revenue was $19.5-million, up 9 per cent from $18.0-million in the fourth quarter of 2011.

EcoSynthetix Inc., which dropped 1.5 per cent and closer to a year low Monday, said net loss in the second quarter of 2012 was $2.8-million (U.S.), or $0.05 per common share (basic and fully diluted), compared to a net loss of $192.0-million, or $177.95 per common share (basic and fully diluted), for same period last year. The pro-forma (before fair value charges) net loss was $2.8-million or $0.05 per share (basic and fully diluted) compared with a pro-forma net loss of $1.1-million or $1.01 per share (basic and fully diluted).

Centric Health Corporation, which rose 4 per cent Monday, will host a conference call to discuss its second-quarter 2012 financial results and provide a corporate update on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The company expects to report its second-quarter 2012 financial results via news release at around 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
