Dive in, don't wade
A study shows that you're likely to get better results if you put a lump sum into the stock market rather than investing gradually through a strategy called dollar-cost averaging. Emotionally, though, there's a case to be made for dollar-cost averaging because it saves you from making a big commitment just before one of those big stock market plunges we've seen in recent years.

How to avoid car payments
The suggestion here is to drive your current vehicle into the ground and bank the money you would have otherwise have spent on car payments. Eventually, you'll have enough to buy a new vehicle in cash.
