Ho, ho, ho -- as we head into the holidays, it turns out that spending and debt are no laughing matter. Even the Bank of Canada is worried about our overdrafts.

But budgeting is a tough and tedious process, right? Is there a relatively simple, painless way of being smarter about how we manage our money?

Ask Globe and Mail columnist Rob Carrick and Aaron Patzer, the founder of Mint.com, a free service that pulls together all your financial data in one place and tells you how much you're spending and saving -- and how that compares to others in North America.

They'll be online at 9 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday to take your questions on budgeting better and using your credit card more intelligently. They've also got advice on setting saving goals and strategies for saving in the New Year.

Mr. Patzer is both the founder and technical mind behind Mint.com, now the leading free, online money management in the U.S. Prior to founding Mint, he was an architect and technical lead for the San Jose division of Nascentric. Before Nascentric, Mr. Patzer worked for IBM and founded two web development and online marketing companies: PWeb and International. He holds an MSEE from Princeton University and a BS in computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering from Duke University.

Mr. Patzer has 10 patents filed or pending. CNNMoney identified him as one of six Money Heroes in the U.S. in 2008, and Inc. magazine included him in a list of the Top 30 U.S. Entrepreneurs under 30. He was named one of 34 worldwide Tech Pioneers by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2008.
