As we head into the last month in which you can make a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) contribution for 2009, we've launched a special RRSP 2010 website and lined up a series of discussions to answer all of your related queries.

First up: On Monday, Feb 1st Dan Hallett, director of asset management at Oakville, Ont.-based HighView Asset Management Inc., answered your questions on how mutual funds can fit into an RRSP portfolio. Should stock-market wary investors buy balanced funds, which invest in stocks and bonds? Or is it time to return to equity funds?

Mr. Hallett has spent more than a dozen years doing research on investment funds, portfolio managers and financial markets. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations. Formerly the president of Dan Hallett and Associates Inc. in Windsor, he is now reponsible for manager research, portfolio construction and investment program design at HighView.
