Recessionary fears, hurricane Ian and La Niña weather are the fundamental factors affecting global commodity markets. Take a look at what Bitcoin has done. Hopefully, you did not get caught up in all of this “hype” and the “sucker trap” of cryptocurrencies in the last couple of years. It is still the US dollar that is the safest haven in the world.

We thought you would find it interesting (in the above video) why parts of southwest Florida have been spared major hurricanes over the years.

However, Tropical Storm (the current designation as I write this) Ian has the potential one of the most devastating storms for western Florida. This is the time of the year when demand for natural gas is muted and without a Gulf hurricane I was in the bearish camp in natural gas for the last few weeks.  However, La Niña conditions can sometimes bring a cold winter and I will be researching this and the recent record global hot summer’s historical impact on the energy market. With respect to the grain market, the geopolitical situation in Russia is again affecting wheat prices, while U.S. corn and soybean ratings keep coming down due to the western Midwest drought. The stronger dollar (which drove our feeling for months of potential lower gold and other commodity prices), has caused a short-term sell-off in corn and soybeans. It is a battle between bearish corn belt harvest weather next week, the stronger dollar, and recession fears vs. the bullish US corn crop ratings, as yields possibly fall below 170 bu/acre and soybeans under 50 bu/acre.

La Niña is alive and well. This too may have a big impact on global commodities as we head into winter (South American

summer). I think there may be a chance for a bull market in corn and soybeans this winter. Please feel free for just $49 to try
