The question

My skin is looking pretty pasty after winter. What's the best way of adding a subtle bronzed hue for spring?

The answer

The first thing I would suggest is to consider using no bronzer at all. I know this might sound odd but you're better off skipping bronzer and opting for a blush to add a subtle touch of colour to a light, pale skin tone.

To get that slight glow you may be looking for, use a blush in a peachy shade. This is the best way to start adding a sun-kissed tone to your face without looking overdone. After you've received a kiss of spring sun, consider incorporating a bronzer into your beauty routine. I have two current favourites to suggest in two different formulas. The first is the Pixi Cheek Sheen in Touch of Tan, a creamy stick that gives a sheer flush; it blends well and looks convincingly natural. If you prefer powder, Wet N Wild's Color Icon bronzer has an SPF 15, comes in three shades and is a long-lasting, budget-friendly option. Be as light-handed as possible when you're applying bronzer. After applying one layer, take a step back and see if you want to add more colour to your face. It's much easier than having to wipe off the excess and starting over.
