M.A.C Liptensity Lipstick, $25 at M.A.C (www.maccosmetics.com).
Highly pigmented lip colour, available in 24 shades, that lasts up to eight hours.
How it works
Liptensity was developed in partnership with Maureen Seaberg, a tetrachromat whose eyes have a fourth cone class for colour vision and the natural ability to see up to 100 million colours imperceptible to the average human eye. The gel formula contains enhanced amounts of pigments selected by Seaberg to reflect pure colours devoid of any under- or overtones.
How to use it
Swipe on lips directly from the bullet for a saturated look. Use a brush for a clean, buildable finish application or your finger for a sheer, stain-like finish.
The bottom line
At the risk of sounding like a vapid social-media influencer, #ihavethisthingwithlipstick. Of all the cosmetics in the world, it's my favourite one to experiment with because it's easy to apply and has a good ROI. So I speak from experience when I say there's definitely something extra about the shades in this collection. They're vivid, even, and without being brash, just pure, unadulterated colour. Seaberg has several forms of synaesthesia, a neurological condition she shares with Kanye West. In May of this year, West described the condition to Ellen DeGeneres as being able to see sounds, adding that he sees "the importance and value of everyone being able to experience a more beautiful life." I may not agree with all of Yeezy's decisions, but aesthetic experimentation is something I can get behind.
