The Pink Ribbon Campaign turns 25

William P. Lauder, executive chairman of the Estée Lauder Companies, and Eric Douilhet, Lauder's Canadian honcho, hosted a bash to mark 25 years of the company's Breast Cancer Campaign. The Burroughes Building in Toronto was bathed in pink light and portraits by society snapper George Pimentel were on display. In attendance were fashion plate Simona Shnaider and the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards' president Vicky Milner.

Holt Renfrew marks 180 years in retail

Galen and Hilary Weston, owners of Holt Renfrew since 1986, hosted a gathering to celebrate its 180 years in the luxury trade on Oct. 12. "It is a rare moment that a store can commemorate an anniversary that surpasses the age of the country in which it was founded," Mrs. Weston remarked. Also out: A Zac Posen-clad Katie Holmes and clients including Vancouver's Ada Fung and Montreal's Natalie Bussière.

Art and beer lovers meet at a Labatt bash

On Sept. 29, Labatt Breweries of Canada hosted dinner in the Council Chamber of Toronto's City Hall to mark its own 170 years in business. Charlie Angelakos, a vice president at Labatt hosted the soirée. Post-dinner, guests including Labatt CEO Marcelo Abud, Olympian Johann Koss, socialite Consuelo Jackman and actor Sarah Gadon donned hard hats for a preview of what was to come for the all-night city-wide arts fest, Nuit Blanche.

A sesquicentennial soirée toasts Canadian fashion

Familiar faces from the Canadian fashion scene were present to launch Then Now Next, an exhibition that opened in Yorkville Village in September to celebrate 150 years of Canada's contributions to the world of fashion. Jonathan Walford, who curated the exhibition, was in attendance, as were model Stacey McKenzie, First Capital Realty's executive vice president Greg Menzies and Robert Ott, chair of the School of Fashion at Ryerson University.
