Of all the runway show weeks on the international fashion calendar, haute couture remains the most special. Presented twice yearly in January and July, these shows represent the culmination of hundreds of hours of hand-work – all to achieve a level of detail that is lost in the world of fast-fashion. And if you're wondering who will be wearing what to the Oscars next month, you might want to pay attention as nominees will typically be wearing fresh-off-the-runway couture. Over the next few days, Amy Verner will be attending these shows along with top editors from around the world and typically also a celebrity or two (Lady Gaga showed up at Atelier Versace last night).
