Party photos of the week: Marketing Hall of Legends annual gala
Canada’s advertising community stole the spotlight last Friday night as the Marketing Hall of Legends held their ninth annual gala and inductee ceremony at Andrew Richard Designs in Toronto. An extra chatty Seamus O’Regan played host while a slew of winners – from household names such as Ivan Fecan and Bonnie Brooks to agency veterans such as Jack Bensimon and Hugh Dow – were honoured for the contributions to brand-building in Canada and around the world, a feat that Ms. Brooks attributed to a having a knack for “storytelling.” But for a crowd being commended on their lifelong achievements in reading audiences, their speeches were about as exciting as Sunday’s Super Bowl. Luckily Douglas Bensadoun saved the night – Aldo Group’s creative director ignited a much-needed hit of energy as he accepted the Visionary Award on behalf of his father, founder Aldo Bensadoun, and told a touching story about a shoe-shiner with a flair for marketing whom he met at the airport earlier that day. Saturday is Mr. Bensadoun’s birthday – we’d say he’s earned a Happy Birthday from us. parties@globeandmail.com
