‘There’s no Prosecco, hon, only champagne – it’s Tiffany’s,” said the snappily dressed server to a humble guest at the Wednesday night sept-a-neuf to fête the opening of the new Canadian flagship store on Bloor Street in Toronto. The sparkling space, draped in the iconic robin’s egg blue (Pantone PMS 1837 for design nerds) was host to a sea of sleek, black-wearing babes who floated about the two levels, most in red-bottom heels and pearls like modern-day Audreys. Rumours of a Real Housewives of Toronto show and remnants of last week’s TIFF celebrity invasion were the hot topics of conversation, as was the piece-de-resistance, five-carat Tiffany setting diamond, shiny and luminous with price tag of a stiff $563,000. Alas, there was no breakfast. parties@globeandmail.com
