I Googled Paula Poundstone and found that she is a comedian best known for television appearances in the United States in the 1990s. (For the record, I can reasonably be expected to keep up on the minutiae of sartorial history, but middle-American mass-cultural ephemera is a stretch.) Ties, in any case, are too serious a question to cloud with the noisy banality of all this televised marginalia. And the short answer to your question is that, to most men, the phrase "androgynously sexy" is an oxymoron.
