Three Halloween treats just for the grownups

Cardamom Pumpkin Seed Brittle, Whisky Sour Lollipops and Darkest Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups.

Deborah Baic/The Globe and Mail

As every parent knows, Halloween is for kids. So why is it so hard to keep our hands off their bulging candy bags as soon as they've gone to bed? This is the year to kick your bad habit: Leave the sickly sweet, painfully sour, mass-produced stuff for your little angels and whip up some tasty treats of your own. The forms are familiar but the flavours – bourbon, very dark chocolate, spicy cardamom – are distinctly grownup. Delicious for you and, let's hope, just scary enough to keep the kids out of your stash.
