Bring cream cheese to room temperature for easier spreading.

Ready time: 40 minutes (includes 30 minutes in fridge)

Ingredients

Whole-wheat tortillas (1 per pinwheel)

Cream cheese (3 tablespoons per pinwheel)

Filling options:Choose ingredients depending on which pinwheels you want to make - Pineapple, avocado, salsa, grated cheddar, ham, apple chutney, black bean dip and red pepper.

Method

Black bean pinwheel:

1. Mix 3 tablespoons of cream cheese with 3 tablespoons shredded cheddar.

2. Spread on tortilla

3. Add a thin layer of bean dip.

4. Add strips of red pepper to roll into the middle of the pinwheel.

5. Roll up, wrap, refrigerate for 30 minutes and slice.

Ploughman’s’ lunch pinwheel

1. Mix 3 tablespoons cream cheese with 1 tablespoon apple chutney.

2. Spread on tortilla.

3. Add a slice of ham.

4. Add a strip of apple to roll into the middle of the pinwheel.

5. Roll, wrap, refrigerate for 30 minutes and slice.

Salsa pinwheel

1. Mix 3 tablespoons cream cheese with 2 tablespoons salsa.

2. Spread on tortilla

3. Add strip of avocado to roll into the middle of the pinwheel.

4. Roll, wrap, refrigerate for 30 minutes and slice.

And for a quick dessert idea try the simple combination of cream cheese and pineapple.
