A fizzy and refreshing radler is the perfect long-weekend cocktail – excellent for day and night drinking. If you can, swing by a nearby brewery and grab a growler of local beer. This recipe is versatile, so simply swap in your favourite brew – lightly fruity ales and hoppy wheat lagers work best. Keep in mind this big-batch recipe is made for satiating a crowd.

Servings: 12 to 16

Ready Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

4-1/2 cups chilled, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

10 oz gin

1.9-litre growler or 4 large bottles or king cans, each 500 ml of blonde ale or light lager beer, chilled

2-2/3 cup chilled lemon soda, such as 2 cans Limonata, each 330 ml

Method

Pour juices and gin into a large pitcher, jug or punch bowl. Slowly add beer and lemon soda. Gently stir to mix. Keep cool by storing on ice or in the fridge. Serve in an ice-filled glass, if you like.

Make ahead: Squeeze the juice in advance and store in a large, resealable jar with the gin in the fridge or cooler for up to two days. Simply mix ingredients and serve.
